About Nocora |
Product LineMost of our products are made of 1000 denier Dupont Cordura® with a 1 ounce urethane coating. Cordura® is a domestic nylon material that is very durable and abrasion resistant. The urethane makes the material quite water resistant while keeping cut edges from fraying. Nocora uses Cordura® almost exclusively in its products because of its durability and good looks. We use a Mil-Spec Nylon Webbing that has a tensile strength and abrasion resistance that is many times that of the industry's standard polypropylene webbing. Normal and even abnormal use of our products will never even come close to the extremes our webbing can handle, but we like having that buffer. Nocora manufactures it's own welting from domestic nylon pack cloth and solid nylon cord. This custom welting will not crack or break down in any weather extremes. The industry standard vinyl welting tends to disintegrate at temperatures just below freezing. Our solid nylon core allows the welting to give shape even to empty bags, something the normal braided cotton core can't even come close to. ThreadsThread is the material that holds everything together in any sewn product, and it is amazing to us that so many companies skimp here. The standard in the industry is to use a 69 grade polyester thread. Nocora, Inc. uses a 92 grade nylon thread. The change from 69 to 92 grade almost doubles the tensile strength of the thread itself, while the change from polyester to nylon has other benefits. Polyester is a brittle fiber that allows seams to burst when a full bag is subjected to a great shock, such as being dropped or having something dropped on it. Nylon is an elastic fiber, stretching almost 50% before it breaks. This allows Nocora products to "give" at the seams when subjected to great stresses rather than "blowing out". Nocora also uses a shorter stitch length, which also adds strength to the seams. Seams are usually the weakest part of any sewn product, but we build our seams to be as durable as the rest of our product. |
